HillsCarPal is a Seniors Transportation service aimed at helping Shut-in Seniors who no longer drive. And it’s coming up to its 200th Ride.
Calling on a panel of nearly 30 volunteer drivers to function, HillsCarPal services the whole of The Hills Shire and adjacent areas. But currently it has only two (2) clients registered from the rural areas of The Hills Shire.
One client, Connie, from a Dural retirement village has been able to visit her incapacitated friend at a Glenorie farm a couple of times and also to attend physio appointments in Castle Hill.
Connie says, “I have a wonderful family who takes me anywhere and everywhere I need to go. But occasionally, HillsCarPal has filled the gap when family are on holidays or out of town. It’s a great option for getting out and about when I need to.”
Yet another, Stephen, a resident of Kenthurst has been able to visit a (new) doctor’s surgery at Rouse Hill where he arranged future home visits, which his previous doctor had terminated.
HillsCarPal is calling for more clients from areas like Kenthurst, Dural, Glenorie and Maroota to match them with its current panel of volunteer drivers from these areas.
